The primary focus of the Institute for Environment and Energy Conservation (IEEC) in energy conservation is implementation of modern highly effective technologies into innovative energy efficiency projects. IEEC has developed a set of energy saving policies that may be widely implemented by industrial enterprises in Among projects initiated and supported by the Institute were the assignments to upgrade power generation schemes at flagship enterprises of the Ukrainian iron and steel industry such as PJSC “Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works”, PJSC “Alchevskkoks”, PJSC “Dzerzhinsky Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works”, PJSC “Makiivka Steel Works”, PJSC “Azovstal Steel Works”, PJSC “Yenakievo Steel Works”, as well as at OJSC “Novolipetsky Steel Works” (Russia), enterprises of DUNAFERR Group of Companies (Hungary), and other companies.
In 2011 the Institute conducted energy audits for the design and estimate documentation of thermal modernization of 47 buildings of municipal sphere (schools, kindergartens and houses, boarding schools, hospitals, clinics, etc.) in 21 settlements of Kyiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions.
The Institute’s landmark projects include introduction and coordination of advanced highly-efficient combined-cycle generation technology (CCGT) based power generation scheme burning waste gases of steelmaking process – blast furnace gas, converter gas, and coke oven gas – at PJSC "Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works". This scheme, being the first one of its kind throughout the CIS, may serve as a demonstration project and may be replicated at any of the Ukrainian steelmaking facilities. Other IEEC assignments have included development of a centralized heat supply system refurbishment and energy efficiency increase programme for the towns of Alchevsk, Dniprodzerzhynsk, Zhytomyr, IEEC offers the following services in energy conservation:
