Project summary

The project envisaged the reduction of energy consumption at the poultry farm Agroholding “Avangard” (Chornobayivskе and UVIS), which is supplied from the electric grid and is produced on the basis of fossil fuels due to implementation of the modern technology of poultry manure utilization with the further energy production on the basis of steam boilers and turbo generators or biogas and cogeneration facilities.


Technical aspects of the project

The project includes the energy complex building at each of two new poultry farms of Agroholding “Avangard” of 660 t/day poultry manure utilization and production of thermal and electric energy.

Two basic projects were proposed:

  • Steam turbine energetic complex (STEC);
  • Biogas energetic complex (BGEC)

The project structure of STEC includes manure dryer, straw pulverizer, steam boiler, steam turbine, generator, the system of smoke gases refinement, subsidiary equipment.

The project structure of BGEC includes mixer, biogas reactors, cogeneration facility, biochemical treatment, the system of smoke gases refinement, subsidiary equipment. Energy, produced at STEC and BGEC, is planned to be used for own needs of poultry farms, and the rest of electricity is planned to be sold to the electrical grid.


Effectiveness of the project

The energy complex of poultry manure utilization implementation at Agroholding “Avangard” will give the possibility to use the existing secondary electric resource (poultry manure) more effectively for thermal and electric energy production.

It leads to costs reduction for electricity generating, reduces the electric component of product cost price, improves the ecological production characteristics and competitiveness of the enterprise.

of STEC and BGEC at Agroholding “Avangard” leads to such a volume of non-fuel electricity production as 18,86 mio.kW-g/year, and due to BGEC implementation the energy production will be equal to 76,5 mio. kW-g/year at each poultry farm.

Project socio-economic consequences

The project implementation will have the raw of socio-economic consequences for the enterprise and region, such as:

  • reduction of the production cost of the final production, increase of its competitiveness, and also the realization of similar products stimulation at the other steel enterprises;
  • economic condition improvement in the region due to the increase of money deduction to the budgets of all levels, including the social needs, preventing of the work places amount reduction and assistance to working conditions improvement;
  • renewal of the economic activity due to the attraction of native engineers, contractors for project implementation;
  • improvement of the general resource efficiency and also the improvement of Agroholding “Avangard” position at the production market.
