Project summary

The project envisages the reduction of energy consumption at PJSC “AISW” due to exploitation of the modern energy saving equipment on the basis of compressor aggregates for air-separators AIR Liqiude, which produce air. Implementation of compressor aggregates leads to reduction of energy consumption in 1,33 times in comparison with existing consumption, such as: from 99,8 kW-h/1000 nm3 to 74,8 kW-h/1000 nm3.


Technical aspects of the project

The project includes the building of two new compressor aggregates with electrical drive with capacity of 160 ths. m3/year each of them.

The project structure of compressor station building for Air Liquide air separators facility at PJSC “AISW”  includes the building of compressor aggregates, their electric motors, facilities for regulation of compressor revolving frequency, system of noise-killers, equipment for air suction (valves, filters) and also instruments for smooth facility setting in motion.

Total annual (perspective) production of compressed air at PJSC “AISW” is about   6000 mio. m3/year.

The existing compressor aggregates are planned to be used at OJSC “AISW”, aiming to provide the total volume of compressed air production and to improve the quality of reserve compressor equipment. The electricity provision of electric drive of compressor aggregates is planned to be realized with the help of private steam and power electric station, which is being built at PJSC “AISW”. The total fixed capacity of two electric motors of two compressors will be 23,95 MW.

Project efficiency

The project aims to improve efficiency of compressed air production for blast furnaces at PJSC “AISW” and thus the reduction of energy resources consumption is achieved in 25 kg o. e./1000 m3, or in 70,1 mln. kg o. e./year (producing 2,8 mio. m3/year of compressed air).

Project socio-economic consequences

The project implementation will have the raw of socio-economic consequences for the mill and region, such as:

  • reduction of the production cost of the final production, increase of its competitiveness, and also the realization of similar products stimulation at the other steel enterprises;
  • economic condition improvement in the region due to the increase of money deduction to the budgets of all levels, including the social needs, preventing of the work places amount reduction and assistance to working conditions improvement;
  • renewal of the economic activity due to the attraction of native engineers, contractors for project implementation;
  • improvement of the general resource efficiency and also the improvement of PJSC “AISW” position at the production market.  

Similar projects have been initiated at PJSC “Dneprovsky Integrated Iron and Steel Works named after Dzershinsky”, PJSC “Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works”, PJSC “Azovstal Iron and Steel Works”.
